OM YogaThon is supporting the following charities

Rainforest Foundation

Every year an area of rainforest the size of England and Wales is cut down. This leaves local people homeless, drives animals and plants to extinction and releases more CO2 emissions, which cause climate change, than all of the world’s planes, trains and cars. Tropical deforestation is an issue that affects us all.

The Rainforest Foundation tackles deforestation locally and globally. Locally it helps forest communities to gain land rights, challenge logging companies and manage forests for their own wellbeing and protection of their environment. Globally it campaigns to influence national and international laws to protect rainforests and their inhabitants.

Since it was founded in 1989 the Rainforest Foundation has helped indigenous and local communities to protect more than 100,000 square kilometers of rainforest

Prison Phoenix Trust

The Prison Phoenix Trust encourages prisoners in the development of their spiritual welfare, through the practices of meditation and yoga, working with silence and the breath. We offer personal support to prisoners around the UK and Ireland through teaching, workshops, correspondence, books and newsletters - and to prison staff too. We work with people of any faith, or of none, and honour all religions.

The Special Yoga Centre

The Special Yoga Centre offers one-to-one yoga therapy for children with special needs, weekly yoga classes for children with autism, monthly yoga classes for children with cerebral palsy and a wide outreach program in schools. We support infants, children and young adults with a wide range of conditions including cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, hemiplegia, autism, epilepsy, attention deficit disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and other physical and development difficulties

The Elephant Orphanage Project, Zambia, offers sanctuary for defenceless abandoned elephant calves, often the tragic victims of poaching and human conflict. Under the age of two, young elephants are incredibly vulnerable and dependent. Many do not survive without intricate care and nutrient rich milk from their mothers. At the EOP Lilayi Elephant Nursery these fragile elephants are cared for around the clock - a milk dependant orphan requires special milk formula every three hours!

A team of locally employed, highly trained Keepers care for them and watch over them constantly - whether out during their daily walks, or sitting close by their stables at night. Together with their new siblings and Keepers these young elephants learn to overcome the tragic loss of their natal family, as they browse, play and bath together in a natural environment.
